The amendment to the Labour Code tightens the conclusion of agreements on work activity or agreements on work performance. Even employees on a temporary or permanent contract must be entitled to the minimum wage set by the state.
As of 1 January 2024, the remuneration from employment agreements must not be lower than the minimum wage, which for 2024 is CZK 18,900 per month, or CZK 118.13 gross wage per hour of work. Employees under agreements will now be legally entitled to additional payments for working at night, on public holidays, in difficult working environments or at weekends. However, the minimum wage does not include these wage components:
overtime pay;
additional payments for holidays, nights and weekends;
allowances for working in difficult working environments. If the amount of remuneration from the agreement does not reach the minimum, the employer must pay the employee the difference.
